3 DAYS NOTICE This is a story of not only four kids in a band, but of four best friends on a journey.
Way back in freshman year, dreams of becoming a rock star first hit lead guitarist Jordan Gregg. He went out and bought his first few pieces of equipment, and found his passion. Basically forcing next door neighbor/best friend Tom Howley to go out and get a bass, even going to the extent of giving him 50 dollars toward it, the two started to jam to the tunes of green day and red hot chili peppers. Realizing the potential oppurtunities the boys could have, they set out in search of a singer. Quickly they asked their other good friend, Mike Zavorskas to join in their quest to become a sweet rock band. Not only contributing his skills in magic and singing, Zavorskas also brought along his talents on the ivories... Or the piano. They werent exactly going for the piano-rock genre, although they were going to involve minor piano parts to create their own unique sound. Realizing he'd never picked up a guitar in his life, he rapidly increased his skills in guitar.
On the other side of town, Drummer Mike Schumann had been playing with various bands/people since 6th grade. None of these groups had the feel or determination Mike was looking for and found himself constantly looking for a new band. By sophmore year he had amassed a large amount of experience indrumming and being in a band. Hearing that his friend Mike Zavorskas had been jamming with his buddies Tom and Jordan, Schumann stopped Jordan and Tom in the hallway one fateful day. "Yo, i heard you guys kinda have a band going, we should jam sometime" Knowing that they didnt have quite the same amount of experience that Schumann had, Tom quickly replied, "dude, we suck ass." They said what the hell and hauled their stuff to Schumanns underground lair and started rockin out. Eventually they started playing in school-related functions such as Piano and Vocal Arts Night (minus Jordan) Their first show as a whole band was Relay for Life on May 14. Mike Zavorskas got a call about Relay 3 days before the show was scheduled, and the band threw together a couple cover songs, including selections from the likes of Starting Line and Something Corporate.
The band really started to get a feel for what they wanted to create. During track practice one Spring afternoon, Jordan was talking with fellow pole vaulter Mark Stuart about how the band had three days notice for the relay show. Mark said, " thats a sweet name for a band; 3 days notice!" Jordan came back and told the rest of the band and they eventually agreed on 3 Days Notice as a name. Over the summer, the band progressed and started writing original songs and good friend Randy Kovac let them record a 4-track demo for a low price. Taking the oppurtunity, the band spent 2 months recording their first 4 songs. Known for their unprepared and unpredictable performances, as their aptly titled demo is named, 3 Days Notice is sure to keep you surprised and amazed. |
