MIDFALL DRIVE Biography.................. Dan Altano (MC) met Mike Gambino (Drummer) and Frank Garafolo (keys/lead guitar) when they were filling in for musicians in Dan's old band "One Night Stand." A one hour jam session on the first night they met produced the beginnings of the song "Tropical Cougar" and led to more and more collaborations over the next few months...........................The trio then sought out two Ridgewood New Jersians: singer/songwriter Kevin Madden to add rhythm guitar and vocals to the mix and Alex Gabucci on bass........................ The band was started under the collective notion that no genre is off limits when it comes to inspiration for creating fresh and innovative music, and its varied set list is evident of this philosophy........ Although all members are New Jersey natives, each bring their own musical backgrounds and expertise to the table. Mixing mellow reggae, rock and funk with profound hip hop lyrics, smooth lead vocals and instrumentals stretching across multiple levels, the band proves that original music can be both catchy and relevant at the same time..................... Major influences include: Sublime, A Tribe Called Quest, Dispatch, De La Soul, Phish, Dave Matthews Band, Jack Johnson, George Clinton and several more............ At live shows, the band relies heavily on crowd involvement and keeps sets fresh with freestyles both lyrically and instrumentally. Playing appropriate and catchy cover songs that are not typically done make the band stand-out. |
